"Ek, Do, Teen..." Son of Sardaar Trailer!

Song: Ek Do Teen
Film: Tezaab
Composer: Laxmikant-Pyarelal
Playback Singer: Alka Yagnik
One of this year's Diwali releases Son of Sardaar has released its trailer! Let's see what will accompany the lights and fireworks this Diwali!
Okay, the first thing I have to say is that the 'Son of Sardaar' chanting in the background that is practically throughout the entire trailer is really annoying. However, I do like that there is constant dialogue in the background of the trailer that kind of explains what the film might be about (the visual trailer itself doesn't say much). I've never been a big fan of Ajay Devgn's comedy/commercial films, therefore this trailer doesn't impress me either. However, we can hope that this film is better than the others!

That being said, wow, Ajay Devgn is back with another commercial film this year (after Bol Bachchan)! And is that Sonakshi again??? Ek do teen, this is her third film in a row! I just saw a new trailer of hers for the film Joker a couple of weeks ago, which was a month after the release of Rowdy Rathore. And now this trailer has released! She's definitely cranking out the films this year, which probably makes up for the entire year of 2011 where she wasn't in any films. Anyway, she's clearly getting typecasted as the sassy love interest of the manly, strong hero (such as Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and now Ajay Devgn). I would like to see her in different roles, and I hope filmmakers offer her these roles as well. Otherwise, she looks as cute as normal (I think I use that exact same phrase every time I comment on her... which is why she needs to get different roles!)

Ajay Devgn is obviously in his element, and I have full confidence in his confidence that this film will be a hit commercially (critically is a different question however). The news around the competition with the other Diwali release, Yash Chopra's Untitled Project with Shahrukh Khan, is quite unlucky for both projects, but neither film is likely to move its date, so both films are going into the battle head held high!

Sanjay Dutt looks as weird as usual, but I'm glad to see Juhi Chawla! Hopefully her character will have some substance, but sometimes that's too much to ask for for a female lead in a commercial comedy film.

Sajid-Wajid and Himesh Reshammiya are doing the music for this film, so we can expect a full commercial soundtrack, with maybe some nice lilting tracks by Himesh (as long as he's not singing). And hopefully we can see some nice dance numbers as well, since I think that Sonakshi can pull those off.

Come October and Diwali, people will be deciding if they want to watch this film in theatres, so hopefully the future promos will provide some good competition to Shahrukh Khan (the 2007 Om Shanti Om vs. Saawariya was just unfair as SRK practically ran over Ranbir and Sonam's debut). Let me know if you think this will be the film to see this Diwali!

But this movie will stand a chance since all of Punjab and likely other northern states will turn out for it over YRF. it would be interesting to go back and look at where the most people turn out for films based on a particular group.

    1. Yeah, different films do attract people from different areas, for instance, Yamla Pagla Deewana was a hit because of the the movie goers in Punjab. Bollywood Hungama actually has a breakup of the box office records from different cities and states in India for most films.
